EXPRESS DEFEATS EL PASO

(TURLOCK, CA., March 15th, 2019)— Tonight the Express had yet another close game against the Coyotes at the El Paso County Coliseum where 4 quarters and Overtime were not enough to dictate a winner. Thanks to great goalkeeping  by Edgar Martinez and offensive work by Omar Tapia, the Express came up top in shootouts with the final score of 8-7.

The night began with an early goal from Coyote’s Colombian defender, Alex Caceres in the first 5 minutes of the opening quarter. The Express weren’t able to find the equalizer by Arturo Pulido  until the end of the first after a slow start.

The Express then shifted gears the moment the second quarter began by keeping possession and moving the ball around for opportunities but found an equal opponent who played the right kind of defense and limited many plays.

As the time continued to run, Omar Tapia fired two goals in past the Coyotes goalkeeper that took the Express into the locker rooms for halftime with a 3-1 lead over El Paso.

The second half of the match continued to be a back and forth struggle between both MASL teams. The Express lead gave them some momentum during the third but the Coyotes found their way back with 4 unanswered goals that allowed them to enter the final 15 minutes with a one goal advantage.

Douglas Lima then found the back of the net in the last 6 minutes of the 4th and retook the lead for Turlock but Hugo Puentes was the man to push things into Overtime after tying up the game 7-7.

After the 10 minutes were up, The Express made sure to finish strong with all 3 of their players putting away the ball in shootouts.

Omar Tapia had another great performance with 4 goals tonight against the Coyotes.

The Express will now return home to host the San Diego Sockers on March 22nd at Turlock Indoor. Tickets are available online at Turlockexpress.com.
