THE EXPRESS FALL SHORT TO THE STARS
(TURLOCK, CA., February 22nd, 2019)— The Turlock Express first encounter at home against the Tacoma Stars resulted in a exciting close match that unfortunately did fall in their favor as they fell short to the Stars 4-6.
Tonight The Stars came out in full force by opening up the scoreboard in the first 5 minutes of play with two back to back goals by Pablo Da Silva and Vince McCluskey.
As the Express looked for their opportunity on the board, Nick Perera unassisted got a shot past goalkeeper Edgar Martinez that gave the Stars a 3-0 lead.
With their lead, Tacoma was able to find the back of the net two more times before the first half was up. Goals for the Stars were made by Mike Ramos and Philip Lund while the Express newest member on their roster, Omar Tapia lead the team offensively with 3 goals in the first two quarters. Two of Tapia’s goals were assisted by Adrian Gutierrez.
As the second half began, Turlock made sure to gain possession and keep the ball moving keeping Tacoma on their feet.
It wasn’t until the final two minutes that the Express scored the only goal to be seen in the third by Adrian Plascencia that cut the Stars lead.
As the final 15 minutes of play began, Turlock started building plays in search of the equalizer but Tacoma’s defense were quick to counter. Sam Zisette recovered a ball that he quickly fed to Pablo Da Silva who shot it past the Express goalkeeper. With less than 3 minutes left the Express swapt in their 6th attacker but ran out of time to change the games outcome.
The Express are now on the road this upcoming week to visit the San Diego Sockers at the Pachanga Arena. The game will be live on MASLTV.
