EXPRESS FALL TO THE SOCKERS

(TURLOCK, CA., March 22nd , 2019)—  This Friday night the Turlock Express faced off the San Diego Sockers who have one of the best records in the league and unfortunately continued to fuel their winning streak with Turlock falling extremely short to a final score of 9-3.

Despite Express record, Turlock was able to challenge the Sockers in the opening quarter limiting them to one goal. The only goal in the 1st was seen off a defensive error when the Express goalkeeper Edgar Martinez came out to challenge a ball outside the box but found a much quicker Sockers player.

Hiram Ruiz was able to get to the ball first and take a shot which in return hit an Express defender and rolled in pass the line in the box.

That goal fired things up for the Southern California team who entered the second quarter strong creating plays that opened up opportunities for shots on goal. Brandon Escoto, Juan Gonzalez and Christian Gutierrez were the three who got their shot past Martinez and increased the Sockers lead to 4-0 as they headed into the locker rooms.

The Express trailing by 4 goals stepped up their defense and was able to get shots on frame but were unlucky as they faced a focused Sockers goalkeeper.

Christian Gutierrez off an assist from Brandon Escoto powered one in to give San Diego a 5-0 lead headed into the 4th.

With time running out, Express was able to find a total of 3 goals all seen in the 4th by Express veterans Adrian Gutierrez, Arturo Pulido and Jorge Carmona.

The stars for the night were Hiram Ruiz who returned in the final quarter for two more goals ending his night with a hat trick and Leonardo de Oliveira who had 2 goals and 2 assists that contributed to their winning score.

The Express are now on the road one last time this season as they face the Ontario Fury this upcoming Saturday.
