Fury Outshine the Express

 

 

(ONTARIO, CA. November 5th, 2017)---- Turlock Express traveled to Southern California this weekend to take on Pacific Division rivals, Ontario Fury. Turlock held a close game all night but unfortunately the Fourth quarter wasn’t in their favor resulting in a 12-6 loss to the Fury. 

 

Turlock in Ontario grounds found the net in the first three minutes of the match with a goal by Carlos Manzo and maintained the goal until minute 8 when Fury player Thiago Goncalves tied the game up. 

 

The opening quarter was full of energy  among both teams. Ball possession was carried out by the Fury but would return to the Express after defensive work by . Turlock pressured the Fury up top with multiple attempts but was shut down by Ontario Keeper Jose Miranda.  

 

 

Thiago Goncalves returned in the second quarter to score the only goal before the first half ended giving Ontario a 2-1 lead over the Express. Third quarter had the crowd on the edge of their seats with a flood of goals. A total of seven goals were seen in the third quarter with the Fury outscoring the Express. The score before the final quarter began was 6-4 Fury. 

 

Ontario took care of the  final 15 minutes of the match by extending their lead with an additional 5 goals that ultimately finalized the scoreboard to a 12-6 game. 

 

Despite the tough loss, Manny Villegas who was signed onto the Express this season scored his first MASL game and also had an assist. The man of the night for Express was Edgar Martinez who had a total of 36 shots against and had 25 saves. 

  

Turlock will now host Tacoma Stars in Week 3 of the MASL, Friday November 10th at the Turlock Indoor Soccer.
