THE SOCKERS DEFEAT TURLOCK

(SAN DIEGO, CA., January 20th, 2019)— Turlock had a tough night this Sunday evening against the San Diego Sockers falling to a final score of 12-4 at the Pechanga Arena.

The opening quarter was kicked off by the Turlock Express who has yet to see a victory this season. Tonight they faced off against a strong San Diego team who gained quick possession and opened up the scoreboard with a goal by Taylor Bond. A minute later the Sockers returned for another this time seen by Luis “Pee Wee” Ortega.

After a back and forth fight for possession the Express were able to draw up a play from the back that landed to Arturo Pulido who in return found Martyn Arista running in from the back who put that one away. Turlock continued to look for opportunities despite being outshot by the Sockers but were unlucky on a counter that allowed Felipe Gonzalez to find the upper right corner of the net giving them a 3-1 lead.

The second quarter of the match was an all Sockers game with a total of 6 goals from the Southern California team. Kraig Chiles finished the 2nd quarter with a hat trick while Brandon Escoto and Taylor Bond each had 2 a piece. Turlock was not completely shut out in the 2nd with Martyn Arista returning for his second of the night and Matthew Germain for his 1st.

The Express entered the 3rd quarter trailing behind 9-3 to the Sockers and were able to play a better defensive quarter by not allowing any additional goals. The final 15 minutes were taken under control once more by the Sockers with 3 more goals in their favor that resulted in the 12-4 win. The last goal that fell for the Express was by Victor Parra who made his debut tonight for Turlock.

The Express will continue on the road next week as they revisit the Texas teams , The RGV Barracudas and El Paso Coyotes. Both games will be live on MASLTV.
