Turlock runs out of time & fall short to RGV Barracudas

(Hidalgo, TX. January 21, 2018)--- The Express (2-14) closed out their 2 road games this Sunday in Hidalgo, Tx at the home of the RGV Barracudas (2-12) at the State Farm Arena. The Barracudas also came into tonight’s game after playing against the Tacoma Stars last night and in Hermosillo on wednesday night. Both MASL teams tonight were in search of their 3rd win, however RGV entered the match with a strong offense that worked in their favor and secured a 7-5 win over Turlock.

The Express had a hard time generating offense throughout the game and they fell short to the Barracudas in the first 2 minutes of the opening quarter with two goals by the same RGV player, Fernando Moreno.

One of Turlock’s youngest players, Ivan Rios then came in at 7:21 and found the net unassisted. Jose Ortega who is fairly new this season also put one in in the first half in favor of the Express before the Southwest team dominated in the 2nd quarter.

A total of 3 goals were seen by the Barracudas in the first two quarters that pushed them to a 5-1 lead over the Express. 2 of the 3 goals were by Julio Reyes who received golden passes by Moises Gonzalez and Fernando Moreno. Gonzalez not only had an assist in the first half but was the man responsible for the 5th goal for the Barracudas.

Turlock came out a bit more aggressive in the last two quarters but time ran out before they could tie the game up. Goals by Matthew Germain, Jorge Carmona and Jose Ortega were seen for the Express that increased their score but was not enough. A few critical errors from turlock really hurt them tonight that did not allow them to recover.

The key players for Barracudas were Fernando Moreno who had a hat trick and their goalkeeper Arnoldo Pruneda who saved 20 of the 25 shots he had attempted on goal.

Turlock is now back home as they host Pacific Division team, The San Diego Sockers on Friday at Turlock Indoor. Tickets are available for purchase at Turlock Indoor all week.
