Turlock Takes the Win

(TURLOCK, CA. December 03th, 2017)--- After an Overtime defeat last night against El Paso Coyotes (5-1), Turlock traveled to Hidalgo, Tx to close up their double header this weekend against RGV Barracudas (0-6) looking to return home with a victory. Despite it being a close game between both MASL teams in the end of the 2nd quarter, Turlock was able to push right through the Texas team in the remaining 2nd half that took huge part in their 11-7 win over the Barracudas putting an end to their 5 game losing streak.

Turlock came into the match by shaking off the previous night’s loss with an early lead for the California team made possible by Veteran Ivan Campos who has been a strong key player for The Express on the road.

With a goal advantage, Turlock controlled the early stages of quarter  by keeping close possession of the ball. Barracudas then took advantage of a given play on top of the arc that resulted in a massive shot by Diego Rodriguez that went pass the Turlock Goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

The equalizer didn’t hold much glory after an error from the Barracudas defense caused an unexpected goal that gave The Express the lead once more. Diego Rodriguez returned for another goal, followed by Ismael Pineda and Julio Reyes Hernandez who gained momentum from their crowd with each shot that went in. Their momentum was cut short as Turlock evened out the scoreboard and headed into the locker room after the first half with a tied game.

The final two quarters were completely dominated by an aggressive fast paced Express team that had a total of 6 unanswered goals left the Texas team trailing behind 10-4.

The man of the night for the Express was Ivan Campos who had a total of 4 goals and one assist. Additional key players for tonight’s win were Arturo Pulido, Martyn Arista, Carlos Manzo and the man in the box Edgar Martinez who had a total of 13 saves from the 25 shots on goal.

Turlock is now back at home with a game scheduled for December 8th against El Paso Coyotes. Tickets for this upcoming match can be purchased at Turlock Indoor Soccer and as always make sure to follow the Express on all social media platforms to stay connected with the team’s weekly news and game updates.
